Greencastle swimmers split with Cadets

Swim teams from Greencastle and Cascade tangled Wednesday, with GMS coming away with a split. The boys won 104-76, while the girls were edged 95-91.

GMS swimmer Alex Asbell dominated the 200-yard freestyle in 2:23.56, more than 17 second ahead of second place. He also won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:03.24.

Evan Smith captured the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:12.91, with Riley Boswell winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.77. Matt Sims won the diving event with a total of 118.75. Elijah Brattain took honors in the 400-yard freestyle in 5:24.49, while Caleb Robinson taking the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:21.06.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Brattain, Robinson, Smith and Boswell won the event in a time of 2:14.76.

In the girls events, Sydney Cassida picked up Greencastle's first individual win of the night, winning the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:15.96. Rosio Gomez finished first in the 50-yard butterfly in 36.80, with Emily Wheeler winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:22.27.

The GMS girls captured two relay win on the night as well.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Cassida, Gomez, Harriett Watson and Abigail Wilson won in 2:26.71, with the team of Cassida, Watson, Gomez and Haylie Romer taking the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:52.65.
