Donald D. Wells, 77, of Brazil died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute following an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 21, 1932 in Greencastle to Lewis and Eula Hutchison Wells. He graduated from Reelsville High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was later honorably discharged in 1954. He married Marilyn Sue Griffin Sept. 2, 1955 at Peniel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Wells worked for Public Service in Plainfield and Terre Haute for 42 1/2 years, retiring in the late 1990s. He was a member of the Knightsville Masonic Lodge 264 and attended Bethel United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed flower gardening, fishing and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; two sons, Jeff Wells and wife Lynda of Knightsville and Rick Wells and wife Norma of Brazil; grandchildren Matt Wells and wife Jennifer, Austin Wells, Nicholas Wells, Bill Wells and wife Kelsy and Adam Wells; brothers Ray Wells, Larry Wells and wife Deanna, Ron Wells and wife Penny; sister Marie Cooper and husband Bob; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Those preceding him in death were his parents; brother Charles Wells; sister Mary Grace Wells; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Tressie Griffin.

Services for will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel and Crematory at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until time of services.
