CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale Middle School principal Jeff Brookshire has been placed on administrative leave.

Superintendent Carrie Milner declined to give details about the situation, saying only that the leave was related to a "personnel issue."

Milner said an investigation was being conducted, and that Brookshire's future with the school corporation was uncertain.

"We're looking into the situation, but no decisions have been made," she said. "We're working diligently to get things resolved."

Milner said until a determination is made about Brookshire's status, Cloverdale High School principal Sonny Stoltz will assume principal's duties at CMS.

Milner did confirm that Brookshire's leave was not related to any criminal allegations. Her hesitance to divulge any details, she said, was as much to protect Brookshire as to protect the students.

"This may not be anything at all," Milner said.
