Heartland team creative in raising extra Relay money

Wednesday, March 11, 2009
If this purple toilet has been located in front of a home or business, it means they have been chosen to "help flush out cancer." The toilet is part of the Heartland Automotive Relay For Life team's fundraiser, in which money is paid to have it removed and/or taken to another facility in the Putnam County area.

Heartland Automotive is passing a purple toilet -- donated by one of its own -- around town. Heartland's Relay For Life team decorated the toilet for Relay For Life and will have it delivered anywhere in Putnam County.

If the toilet is received, the recipient has three choices. They can choose to pay $10 to have it removed, $20 to have it removed and delivered to someone else or $30 to ensure the toilet is never returned, plus the first two options.

A flyer will accompany the toilet stating, "You've been chosen to help flush out cancer." Specific details are given on what needs to be done if the purple throne shows up.

In addition to the "potty passer," purple feet will be available at local businesses. Customers may donate $1 and have their name on a purple Relay For Life foot.

Any area businesses wishing to participate in the purple foot fundraiser can call Beth with Heartland at 765-653-4263 ext. 146.

Relay For Life will be April 25-26 at Blackstock Stadium.
