Auditions to be held at PCPH in April

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Calling all actors.

The Putnam County Playhouse will be holding auditions for Cole Porter's musical "Kiss Me Kate."

Director Vickie Parker will conduct two audition sessions at 3 p.m. April 5 and at 7 p.m. April 6 at Hazel Day Longden Barn Theatre on Round Barn Road.

All roles are currently open and those auditioning must have a song prepared. An accompanist will be provided.

There will also be readings from the script and a dance audition conducted by choreographer Lita Sandy.

The award winning musical tells the tale of Frederick Graham and Lilli Vanessi, a divorced couple who are involved in a musical production of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." Complications between the pair and other cast members make for a "rollicking show within a show" premise that has pleased audiences for more than 60 years.

The show will open the 2009 season and will be presented June 4-7 and June 10-13.
