Remember the Children

Thursday, April 2, 2009
Staff members and volunteers from Family Support Services place pinwheels on the courthouse lawn Wednesday afternoon. With April being Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Abuse Month, the workers placed 150 pinwheels in the grass, one for every child who died from abuse in the state last year.

  • As I drove around the square this a.m. I noticed the pinwheels and read the banner. It made my heart sick to think about the children who died from abuse last year. I don't know how anyone could ever hurt a child. At least we know where the chilren are now and also where the adult who did such an act will be in the hereafter. God Bless all the Children!

  • I love that idea. I saw them too and thought they were so cute. After reading about it, it makes my heart sick as well. I can't believe someone would do such a thing but I really appreciate the visual to make everyone stop and think about it.
