Charles Russell Day, 93, of Greencastle died Wednesday, April 8, 2009.

Born Nov. 26, 1915 in Warren Township of Putnam County, he was the son of Frank W. and Lillie Mae Ikamire Day. He was a 1934 graduate of Clinton Center High School in Clinton Township of Putnam County. He married Dorothy L. Flint on Dec. 25, 1938 and she survives.

Mr. Day was a self-employed farmer his entire life and had been a bandsaw operator with the Allison Divisions of General Motors in Indianapolis for 26 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greencastle.

Survivors including his wife; a son, Larry R. Day and wife Joanne of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; a daughter, Marilynn L. Patton and husband Jim of Terre Haute; a sister, Helen Harris of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Lori Ann Jansen and husband Todd of Branson, Mo., Lisa Lynn Willhoit and husband Michael of Springfield, Mo., Cynthia Lindsay and husband Darren of Farmersburg, Michelle L. Moon and husband Randy of Bowling Green and Debbie Kay Feller and husband, Michael of Des Moines, Iowa; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Day.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Brick Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
