Greencastle hosts Arbor Day program

Friday, April 17, 2009

On Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m., there will be a special Greencastle Veteran's Memorial Highway Arbor Day program. The program will honor the many sacrifices of the veterans who have served or currently serve our nation, as well as recognizing the city of Greencastle's 10th year of being named by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City U.S.A.

The morning's activities will feature guest speakers, including Indiana's adjutant general, Major General R. Martin Umbarger and Pam Loucks, Indiana's community and urban forestry coordinator.

During the event, there will also be a dedication of 34 trees that have been donated this year to honor the lives of veterans.

People wishing to consider the donation of a veteran's tree in future years are asked to contact the Greencastle Department of Public Works or the Putnam County Community Foundation.
