South Putnam downs Bulldogs

The South Putnam baseball team scored an 8-5 win over visiting Monrovia Thursday.

Rob Gibson connected on his third home run in two games, with junior John Spencer adding one of his own. Senior Josh Flory recorded a double for the Eagles.

Sophomore pitcher Grant Zimmerman pitched a complete game, throwing five strikeouts and allowing three walks, five hits and five runs.

Head coach Troy Burgess acknowledged the play of the bottom of his lineup. His five-through-nine hitters collected eight of the team's 14 hits and all but one of their runs.

The Eagles will host Danville tonight at 5 p.m.
