Man sentenced to 63 years
A Greencastle man has been sentenced in Putnam County Circuit Court to 63 years for child molesting.
Terrell Britton, 53, was convicted of two counts of Class A felony child molesting and one count of Class D felony dissemination of matter harmful to a minor. He received 30-year sentences with 25 years executed and five years suspended on both Class A felonies and three years with credit for 317 days already served on the Class D felony.
The sentences will run concurrently.
In addition, Britton was deemed a sexually violent predator. When he is released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and be on G.P.S. monitoring.
Britton was originally charged with six Class A felonies, six Class D felonies and two Class A misdemeanors for his involvement in sexual activities with four minors. He was sentenced under the terms of a plea agreement.
Putnam County Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter said Britton's age and health problems would make it so he was effectively incarcerated "for most of the remainder of his life."
Britton was arrested on June 12, 2008, and has been in jail ever since. According to court documents, the criminal sex acts committed by Britton occurred between November 2007 and the spring of 2008.
