Board accepts Brookshire resignation

CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale Middle School principal Jeff Brookshire has resigned from his position. During the regular school board meeting Monday night, board members voted 6 to 1 for all personnel changes including Brookshire's resignation.

In March, it was confirmed by Superintendent Carrie Milner Brookshire had been placed on administrative leave. Milner declined to give the Banner Graphic any more details on the situation other than it was "not related to any criminal allegations."

Since Brookshire's leave of absence, high school principal Sonny Stoltz has assumed principal duties at CMS on an interim basis.

Other resignations include high school special education assistant Sunshine Monnett, Traci Toney as eighth-grade volleyball and sixth-grade boys' basketball coach and Katie McLaughlin as seventh-grade girls' basketball coach.

The board approved the employment of Matthew Langdon as high school student classroom assistant; the emergency leave of absence of high school special education teacher Mollie Shobe; and Rodney Mann as a volunteer assistant cross country coach.

Approval was also given for Reese Nichols Sr. to be appointed as a member of the Owen County Public Library board. A Greencastle resident is still needed for the library board, Milner added. She did not give further details.

To help raise money for the Knoy endowment with Putnam County Community Foundation, Milner presented "share a dream" cards.

The cards can be used for donations to the endowment.

"Instead of buying flowers," Milner suggested, "honor someone through a donation."
