Derek Davis

CLOVERDALE -- Derek Davis has been chosen as a DePauw Julian scholar. Under a new grant authored by Gloria Childress Townsend and Neal Abraham with the university, Davis will receive tuition, books and room and board for a period of four years.

The Cloverdale High School senior was one of 14 students who participated in DePauw's annual summer science research projects last year.

He was recognized during the Cloverdale school board meeting Monday, where board members congratulated him and his family.

Davis has been called an "inspiration to us all," by CHS staff.

He is the son of Shelly and James Davis of Cloverdale.
