Herman Leo "Toad" Rubeck

Herman Leo "Toad" Rubeck, 92, of Spencer, formerly of Poland, died on Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Bloomington Hospital.

He was born in Owen County on March 3, 1917, the son of the late George Herman and Rose Comer Rubeck.

Mr. Rubeck was a farmer and a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Pat Steele of Cloverdale, Shirley Taylor of Indianapolis, Frank and Kathy Scott of Bloomington, Dewayne Scott of Yorktown, Texas, Marvin Scott and wife Leah of Elcampo, Texas, Chris and Konnie Herbert of Cloverdale and Russ and Marge Herbert of Cloverdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Olive Elizabeth Rubeck; sisters Clema Scott and Isabelle Butler; and his brother, Forest Rubeck.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery in Poland.

Calling will be from noon until the time of service Thursday.
