Putnam County grads to perform in recital

Four 2009 Putnam County graduates will be featured performers in a Dance Arts Academy recital slated for June 6.

Cecilia Capps, daughter of Jeff and Nancy Capps, is a 2009 graduate of Cloverdale High School. She has nine years of dance experience in jazz and tap.

In the fall she plans to attend Indiana State University to study nursing.

Brooke Lewis, daughter of Wayne and Kathy Lewis, is a 2009 graduate of Greencastle High School. She has 12 years of dance training in jazz and tap.

Lewis plans to attend Ball State in the fall to study teaching or zoology.

Kullan Edberg, daughter of Eric and Allison Edberg, is a 2009 graduate of Greencastle High. She has 11 years of dance training in tap, jazz, and ballet.

In the fall, Edberg plans to attend Tisch School of Arts at New York University to study theater.

Deborah Armitage, daughter of Scott and Pat Armitage, is a 2009 graduate of home school.

She has 14 years of dance training in ballet tap, and jazz.

She plans to attend Vincennes University in the fall to study physical therapy.

The recital will be held at Cascade High School, and will begin at 3 p.m.

In addition to Capps, Lewis, Edberg and Armitage, 50 other students from the Dance Arts Academy, under the tutelage of Deborah Grammel, will perform.

Grammel has studied in New York, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami.

She has taught at DePauw University since 1979 and has instructed preparatory classes to ages 4 to 23 for over 20 years.

Dance Arts Academy, formerly known as Jonie Skaggs Studio, is located in Stilesville.

Admission to the recital, which is open to the public, is free.

The event is expected to last approximately two hours. Doors will open at 2 p.m.
