Eagles' duo fall at regional

CARMEL -- Megan Klotz and Tabitha Arnold lost 0-6, 0-6 in their match at the Carmel Regional Saturday and even though their season came to an end, it was one to remember.

"Megan Criss and Cassie Davis raised the bar last year," SPHS Coach Johnnie Briones said. "This year, Megan and Tabitha raised the bar even higher."

The duo was the first in school history to win an individual sectional championship in girl's tennis.

"This was a great way for Tabitha to go out her senior year," Briones said. "She excelled both athletically and academically and left her mark on South Putnam High School."

Even though the season has just ended, Briones is already thinking about next spring.

"Looking forward to having Megan back next year," Briones said. "She gained some valuable experience this year.

"I never dreamed of having this good of season after graduating almost our entire team from last year," Briones added. "I have high expectations for next year, since we're only graduating three players from this year's team."
