Frederickson sentenced to 2 years for sexual offense

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

A Bainbridge man has been sentenced to a two-year Indiana Department of Correction sentence on a Class D felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Putnam County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley gave Vernon N. Fredrickson, 52, until noon on July 13 to begin serving the executed portion of that sentence, which is to include 150 days at the Putnam County Jail and one year on electronic home monitoring. The balance of the sentence was suspended, and Fredrickson will spend it on probation.

Fredrickson's original charges also included two counts of Class C felony child molesting and one count of Class D felony sexual battery.

Fredrickson was arrested on April 7, 2008. He posted 10 percent of a $20,000 and was released from jail that day.

According to court documents, Fredrickson molested a child who was in his care on between two and 10 occasions from 2001 to 2004. Charges against him were filed after a two-month investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police.

  • I must be confused here, he has until July 13th to go to DOC and then begin his time? He molested a child and was released on the day he was picked up. Where is the justice in this? And only 2 years?! This is messed up!
