North Putnam schools announce 2009 school opening information

All school offices within the North Putnam Community School Corporation will open on Monday, July 27. Registration at all schools is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 3 from 12 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those who cannot register on either day should call the individual school to make other arrangements.

Textbook rental payments are due and payable at the time of registration and enrollment. Persons may receive textbook assistance if they qualify for free or reduced lunches based on federal free lunch guidelines.

Free and reduced lunch applications will be available at the schools. Those who cannot pay their rental fees a the time of registration, and who do not qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, can work with school officials at the schools to develop an approved payment plan.

Book rental costs are as follows:

Bainbridge Elementary School:

Pre School--no rental fees, Kindergarten--$50, Grade 1--$70.56, Grade 2--$67.67, Grade 3--$65.94, Grade 4--$56.26 and Grade 5--$54.55.

Roachdale Elementary School:

Pre-school--no rental fees, Kindergarten--$54.53, Grade 1--$71.81, Grade 2--$69.64, Grade 3--$76.43, Grade 4--$63.65 and Grade 5--$59.68.

North Putnam Middle School--rental fees will depend on the classes taken and will vary with each student. The maximum textbook rental fees are: Grade 6--$98.88, Grade 7--$101.23 and Grade 8--$116.56.

North Putnam High School--Rental fees depend on the classes taken and vary with each student. NPHS students who need to make schedule changes should arrange a meeting for Aug. 10 or 11 with a counselor.

Parents registering new students must bring a copy of the child's birth certificate and immunization record with them. Students who are living with adults other than their parents are required to have court documentation detailing legal guardianship before enrolling.

Bus information for new students can be obtained by calling 522-6220 beginning Aug. 3.

Full day (every day) kindergarten is offered at both Bainbridge and Roachdale Elementary Schools. If you have a kindergarten age child and have not registered, contact the appropriate school after the offices open on July 27 or during registration on Aug. 3 and 4.

Classes for North Putnam Community School Corporation students in grades Kindergarten through 12 will begin with a full day on Friday, Aug. 14. Classes at all schools will begin at 8:30 a.m. with dismissal at 3 p.m. at the elementary schools and 3:10 at the middle and high schools.

Lunch prices are: High School $2.25, Middle School $2.25, Bainbridge and Roachdale Elementary $2.15, Adult $3.10. Breakfast prices at all schools are $1.25 for students and adults for $1.65.
