Curtis G. Norman, 82, of Greencastle died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the St. Vincent Hospice facility in Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 14, 1926 in Parke County, he was the son of Grover Cleveland and Goldie Cricks Norman. He married Ruth Littrell on Sept. 14, 1944, and she survives.

Mr. Norman was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII. He had been a farmer, had driven a school bus, worked as a guard at the Putnamville correctional facility and a union carpenter. He was a member of the American Legion; V.F.W.; and the FOP.

He is survived by his wife; six children, Rosalie Baker and husband Rick of Indianapolis, Mary Lou Mahan and husband Raymond of Williamsport, Jerald "Jerry" Norman and wife Gerrie of Greencastle, Sue Meyer and husband Dick of Spencer, Carl Norman and wife Robin of Waveland and Lorita Dillon and husband Dick of Veedersburg; two brothers, Aurbery and Willard Norman; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home (4 N. Percy Julian Dr. Greencastle) with the Pastor Terry Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at the Little Walnut Cemetery.

Calling will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
