Greencastle Police Department

The following tickets were issued by the Greencastle Police Department:

Geraldine M. Lancaster, 70, Greencastle, was pulled over at 1:05 p.m. July 23 on Jackson Street and ticketed for driving left of center in a work zone.

Benjamin Brewer, 21, Bainbridge, was pulled over at 4:40 p.m. Monday on Fillmore Road and ticketed for traveling 52 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h zone.

Samantha Drake, 17, Greencastle, was pulled over at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday at Albin Pond Road and Castleton Drive for traveling 53 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone.

Greencastle Fire Department

Crews were dispatched to 631 Anderson St. at 9:35 a.m. Monday for a single vehicle accident. They were back in service at 10:23 a.m.

Crews were dispatched to 26 Cottonwood Court at 12:11 p.m. Monday for a gas leak. A backhoe had struck a two-inch gas main. They were back in service at 1:51 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 109 W. Hannah St. at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday for an alarm due to cooking. They were back in service at 11:20 a.m.

Crews were dispatched to 853 Indianapolis Road at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday for a good faith call. A resident was cooking hamburgers on a grill. They were back in service at 6:03 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to Rockville Road and Elizabeth Street at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday for active smoke detectors. The house was found to be vacant.

Putnam County Jail

Michael Powers, 43, Terre Haute, was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday for operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .08 or greater and public intoxication.

Karla Hinkel, 56, Greencastle, was booked at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday for domestic battery and intimidation with a deadly weapon.

William Cramer, 57, Greencastle, was booked at 10:14 p.m. Tuesday for interfering with the reporting of a crime.

David Osborne, 30, Tonka Bay, Minn., was booked at 4:16 a.m. Wednesday for dealing in cocaine and possession of cocaine.

Aaron Priest, 34, Greencastle, was booked at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday for probation violation.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department

Deer are still causing trouble for motorists.

Thomas Garrett of Campbellsville, Ky., was traveling north on US 231 near Cloverdale at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, when a deer entered the roadway. Garrett was unable to avoid hitting the animal and struck it with the right-front side of his vehicle.

There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Brandon Peterman of Greencastle and Gerald Rich of Greencastle were traveling on CR 400N near Greencastle, when both drivers attempted a turn at the same time on the narrow road causing the vehicle to sideswipe.

Neither vehicle was towed. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.
