Open house set for new superintendent

An Open House to welcome Dr. Mary Sugg Lovejoy, North Putnam Community School's new superintendent will be held on Aug. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the North Putnam Middle School Commons.

Hosted by the Board of School Trustees, hot dogs, chips, baked beans, cookies, cake and drinks will be served.

Lovejoy comes from Monroe County Schools in Bloomington where she served as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

A 20-year Danville resident, she taught elementary and high school students in Avon and also worked in Brownsburg before going to Bloomington.

Her husband Kim Bryan is a professor of liberal arts at Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis. They are the parents of two grown children a son Joe and daughter Rebecca.

North Putnam school board members are delighted to have Lovejoy. She was chosen from a field of eight candidates that was narrowed down to four.

Lovejoy began her stint at North Putnam on July 1. She replaced Superintendent Murray Pride, who retired after 15 years at North Putnam.
