Georgia M. McAllister

Georgia Mae Nichols McAllister, 65, of Greencastle died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at the St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.

Born April 29, 1944 in Dolan, she was the daughter of George Ann McKinney Nichols. She received her GED from Greencastle High School and attended Indiana State University for two years. She married W. Thomas McAllister in 1961 and he survives.

Mrs. McAllister was a homemaker and an aspiring writer, having won awards for her writing. She was a member of the Writers' Club at Indiana State University.

Survivors include her husband; children Kimberly McAllister Sell of Fishers, Thomas Grant McAllister and wife Krissy of Reelsville and Michael Shawn McAllister of Greencastle; two brothers, Donny Nichols of Corpus Christi, Texas and Floyd Nichols of Tenn.; half brother Dennis Matthews of Bloomington; four grandsons; a granddaughter; and two step granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Lloyd Nichols.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, 4 N. Percy Julian Drive Greencastle, with burial to follow at the Ladoga Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
