Individuals and teams come from all over the area to train at the American Mantrailing Academy. The school provides free training for search and rescue personnel.

The American Mantrailing Academy provides free training to all search and rescue teams or individuals willing to volunteer their time and services to assist local authorities, Homeland Security or emergency management agencies and others when searching for lost or missing persons.

Founded by K-9 Master Trainer Tony Keith last March, the organization has a host of trainers and master trainers who meet twice a month to provide no cost training to teams who come from as far away as Ohio, Kentucky, Evansville and Fort Wayne.

There will be a K-9 Training Saturday at 8 a.m. This training is available to anyone who attends with no obligation.

The group will be meet at the Cloverdale Truck stop at I-70 and S.R. 231 (Cloverdale Exit) at 7 a.m. for coffee. The training starts at the Marathon at I-70 and S.R. 243 (Putnamville Exit) at 8 am. It will last until 4 p.m. or later.

"I look forward to seeing everyone there. These guys are what makes this Academy Rock," said Keith.

  • I and a co-worker had just attended the American Man Trailing Academy, it was their fall academy oct 5th - 9th. Me and my co-worker are from Laguna Indian Reservation in New Mexico. I have been in Law Enforcement for 6 years and i have to say that this is one of the best trainings that i have ever been to. I gained some much knowledge for all the instructors and staff. I think that Tony Keith has started something that no-one will ever forget. All of the staff was very very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They are very dedicted to what they do. Especially one of the instructors, Jill she stayed out at night past midnight helping some of the students with their k-9s'. She helped me with my bloodhound k-9 Jimmy get over his fear of trailing at night. But I learned alot from Tony and all the other instructors that helped me out.

I would just like to say Thank you to AMA for the great job that they had done. I really recommend anyone who is wanting to be part of a k-9 man trailing this is the academy that you should take. It dont matter if you have many years of experience or if you never have had any training at all.
