Greencastle chases off Wildcats in four

GREENCASTLE -- It took it four sets, but Greencastle finally captured a win.

The Tiger Cubs defended their home court against the visiting Wildcats, 25-12, 14-25, 25-11, 25-15.

"We are doing better," GHS coach Trish Lowe said. "We had much better communication and we are finally moving more swiftly in the right direction.

"We're looking forward to another conference match in the Barr Reeve Tourney this weekend," Lowe added.

Leading the offensive charge for Greencastle was Kayla Nobles, who had 12 points, two kills and four aces on 17-for-19 serving, while Kandice Phillios had 10 points and two aces on 18-of-19 serving. Chelsea Samuels tore up the net with 16 kills, 13 points, three aces on 18-of-19 serving along with seven blocks, one of which was a stuff.

Braden Amis paced the Tiger Cubs defensively with eight blocks, six of which were stuffs, and 10 digs along with five points.

In junior varsity action, Greencastle won 25-13, 25-18.

Greencastle is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Cloverdale for a 6 p.m. match.
