Letter to the Editor

Family Movie Night a big success

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

To the Editor:

We, the committee of the first annual Family Movie Night at the Park, would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers, and all the families that joined us for our inaugural event.

This evening proved to be a huge success with approximately 400 in attendance. With a perfect weather forecast, families arrived early carrying blankets and lawn chairs, and quickly made their way to the free refreshments consisting of hot dogs, popcorn, Domino's pizza and drinks.

We are proud to announce that $1,147.66 was raised in support of our goal to purchase school supplies for children in all Putnam County schools.

Without the contributions of the following businesses, organizations and agencies, this event would not have been possible: United Way of Putnam County, Putnam County Youth Development Commission, Shuee & Sons, Jeff Boggess, Fillmore Christian Church Mission Department, National Night Out, First National Bank, Family Support Services, English Family Farms, Elk's, Ridpath PTO, Greencastle Parks and Recreation, Family Video, Kroger's, McDonald's and Domino's Pizza.

Special thanks to those that freely volunteered their time, energy, and passion: Shelly Markham, Matt Scott, Renee Marsteller, Phyllis Rokicki, Patti Harmless, Troy Scott, Mayor Sue Murray, and Cathy Westman.

Thank you again Putnam County.

We'll see you at the park next year!

Linda Merkel, David English, Samantha and Josh Richardson, David Zeiner, and John York
