GREENCASTLE -- Indiana Extension Homemakers Association Week is being celebrated in Putnam County from Oct. 19 to 25.

For 90 years, this statewide organization has been actively engaged in promoting the strengthening of families through continuing education, leadership development and volunteer community support.

IEHA programs reflect the needs of contemporary living. With over 220 members in Putnam County, Extension Homemaker clubs throughout the county hold monthly programs that emphasize family stability, consumer education, health, housing, community development and contemporary issues facing family living today.

Projects to benefit the community which are being sponsored by Extension Homemaker volunteers this year include local food pantries, Ronald McDonald House, the A-way Home Shelter, Family Support Services and Coats for Kids.

For more information about IEHA and local Extension Homemakers clubs call the Putnam County Extension Office at 653-8411.
