Putnam County Hospital sets age restrictions for visitors

GREENCASTLE -- For the protection of patients, visitors and staff, the Putnam County Hospital has chosen to implement an age restriction for visitors during this year's flu season.

It is recommended parents do not bring children aged 16 years or younger to visit the facility. This temporary age-based restriction is effective immediately.

The decision was made in preparation of the H1N1 and influenza season.

"Our goal is to ensure our patients' safety," stated Dennis Weatherford, CEO of PCH. "By imposing this limitation, we can help to reduce the possible spread of the H1N1 virus."

"We ask for the cooperation of our local community and area visitors during this time," Weatherford added.

Anyone suffering from flu-like symptoms should remain at home and avoid contact with others, according to Centers for Disease Control.

If symptoms begin to include difficulty breathing, severe or persistent vomiting or confusion, it is important to seek medical attention immediately.
