David Wayne Cheatham, 50, of Indianapolis and formerly of Greencastle, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 in Indianapolis.

He was born Nov. 30, 1958 in Indianapolis, the son of Mitchell and Lois Campbell Cheatham. His mother preceded him in death.

Mr. Cheatham was a Heavy Equipment Operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 103 in Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Duncan of Indianapolis; one son, Sipho Langa of Indianapolis, two daughters, Kelly Sligh of Greencastle and Kristal Howard of Indianapolis; his father, the Rev. Mitchell L. Cheatham of Reelsville; sisters, Rhonda Harper and Marcia Pervine of Indianapolis, Carolyn Leann Ladd of Plainfield and Terri Cheatham of Reelsville; brothers Michael Cheatham of Indianapolis, Stephen Cheatham of Dayton, Ohio, Donald Cheatham of Greencastle, Gary Cheatham of Greencastle, Timothy Cheatham of Brazil, Lonnie Cheatham of Indianapolis and Mitchell Cheatham of India; and two grandchildren, Genysis and Unique Howard.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at Bishop GT Haywood Memorial Church in Greencastle, with burial in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, 4 Percy Julian Drive, Greencastle.
