Charles H. Rhea, 88, Eminence died on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor in Mooresville.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1920 in Morgan County, the son of the late Elva Sligar and Hallie Belle Dorsett Rhea.

Mr. Rhea was a 1938 graduate of Eminence High School, a 68-year member of Local #841 of the International Union of Operating Engineers; Masonic Lodge #440, F. & A. M., Eminence; Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, O. E. S. # 546, Eminence; Hurst-Collins Post # 281, American Legion, Cloverdale; and was one of the founders of the Eminence Youth League. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U. S. Army.

He married Emma Lou Warmouth on Dec. 23, 1950, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Rita F. Cross and husband Brian of Stilesville, Renee R. Ratliff and husband Brian of Eminence, Rex R. Rhea and wife Martha of Eminence, Russ R. Rhea and wife DeDee of Eminence and Royce R. Rhea and wife Terri of Eminence; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Fern Mattox, also preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stilesville Cemetery. Calling will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
