Jeffery Dallas "J.D." Miller
Jeffery Dallas "J.D." Miller, 21, of Reelsville died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009.
Born Feb. 17, 1988 in Greencastle, he was the son of Jeffery L. Miller and Jean A. Mace Miller. He was a 2006 graduate of Greencastle High School and received his bachelors degree in education from Indiana State University.
J.D. had worked as a substitute teacher with the Greencastle Community School Corporation. He had been honored with the Distinguished Hoosier Award from the Governor of Indiana.
J.D. had served as president of the Indiana Student Education Association and as a director with the Board of Students in the National Education Association. He was active in the Up till Dawn organization with St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. He had been active in 4-H and raised registered Shetland Sheep.
Survivors include his father Jeff Miller and companion Carrie Cox of Reelsville; mother Jean A. Miller and companion Keith Scott of Clayton; sister Lindsey J. Miller and companion Scott Whaley of Avon; grandmother Phyllis Miller of Rossville; his aunts and uncles; Judy and Jim Covey, Jack and Mary Jane Mace, John and Rhonda Mace, Jerry and Lois Mace, Jan Mace, Jeff and Tracy Mace, Jim and Christa Mace, Marcia and Tim Eller and Bruce and Cathy Miller; and 19 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard Miller and David and Donna Duell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Peace Lutheran Church in Greencastle with Pastor Alan Barber officiating.
Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the J.D. Miller Leadership in Education Scholarship Fund at ISU; the American Cancer Society; St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
