Eagles battle Cadets in pool

GREENCASTLE -- The South Putnam swim teams took on Cascade Tuesday, with the boys' tying the Cadets with a score of 89-all and the girls' falling 120-64.

"Overall, very pleased with our meet," head coach Emily Coers said.

Picking up wins for the girls' were the 200 medley relay team of Sarah New, Jessica York, Kate Sherwood and Amanda Lund and the 200 freestyle team of Josie Farmer, Lyndsie Beasley, Samantha Tomasino and Lund.

Grabbing wins for the South Putnam boys was Andrew Kelly, Trent Vickery, Sam Gould, Andrew Whitman, Jake Gould and Darrick Grundlock. The 200 medley relay team of Grundlock, Jake Gould, Matt Lund and Vickery and the 400 freestyle relay team of Kelly, Lund, Vickery and John McCammack were victorious as well.

"It was senior night and my seniors gave an outstanding effort."

The swim teams will be back in the pool tomorrow when they travel to Edgewood at 5:30 p.m.
