Mickey D. Hammond, 47 of Greencastle passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010.

Born Feb. 18, 1962 in Noblesville, he was the son of Ray W. and Ila "Bunny" (McPherson) Hammond. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School in the Class of 1980, and received his bachelor's degree of science in parks and recreation from Indiana State University.

Mr. Hammond had been a welder's assistant and laborer with the Pipe Liners Union Local No. 798. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose lodge No. 1592.

He is survived by his mother; a special friend, Jan Ferrand; two sisters, Alicia Linton and husband, Stephen and Tami Hammond, both of Greencastle; a brother, Rex Hammond of Greencastle; a nephew, Dylan Linton; three half-brothers, two half-sisters and their families; several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, William Hammond.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Trout officiating. A private family burial will held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service on Monday.
