Tiger Cubs JV defeats North Putnam

ROACHDALE -- The Greencastle junior varsity boys' basketball team defeated North Putnam in a hard fought game Thursday night

The young Tiger Cubs came out firing and led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Cougars came out hot in the second and quickly built a 15-11 lead on the strength of Chandler Meyer's nine second quarter points. Greencastle went on an 11-3 run to end the half and led 22-18 at the break.

Both teams were hitting on all cylinders in the third stanza as Greencastle put up 15 points and North Putnam 12. The fourth quarter was much of the same and Greencastle held on down the stretch to record the win.

Trevor Huber had the hothand for Greencastle, as he recorded 14 points to go along with six rebounds. Jesse Tesmer added eight points and 10 boards, and Michael Muncie came off of the bench and added seven points. Ryan Battin played a strong defensive game and also added eight points. Chandler Meyer led the Cougars with 16 and Jacob Muse had seven.

The Tiger Cubs (7-3, 4-1 WCC) travel to Tri-West Saturday for a 6 p.m. tip.
