Bruce Conrad, 67, of Crawfordsville died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.

He was born Aug. 12, 1942 in Crawfordsville, the son of Glenn and Darlene Pickering Conrad. He was a graduate of New Ross High School and Purdue University with a civil engineering degree.

Mr. Conrad was an engineer and surveyor for INDOT, building many of the bridges in the area with the construction of Interstates 74, 65 and 70. He worked in the development department until he moved to the job of district construction director in 2003. He retired in February 2009.

He enjoyed trap shooting. He served two years in the Army National Guard and was a member of Robert Turner Post American Legion in New Ross, New Ross Conservation Club, the National Muzzle Loaders Association, The American Flyer S-Gauge Train Club, Putnam County Coin Club, Montgomery County Woodworkers and Carvers and Boy Scout Troop #326.

He is survived by his wife Sandy Shelton Conrad; father Glenn Conrad of New Ross; son Chris (Katy) Conrad of Lafayette; stepdaughter Makay (Mike) Adams of Galveston; stepson Pat Fellows of Chicago; and three grandchildren, Hannah and Seth Conrad and Brandi Adams.

His mother and grandson, Evan Glenn Conrad, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville with cremation to follow services. The Rev. Mike Whitacre will officiate. Burial will be at Darlington Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date with VFW/American Legion services.

Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
