Buford Ray Curtis, 81, of Greencastle passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at his residence.

Born Sept. 10, 1928 in Plainfield, he was the son of Bruner Ray and Dora (Tooley) Curtis. He was a graduate of Plainfield High School with the class of 1947.

He married Dorothy (Faulkner) Curtis in 1953 and she preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 2008.

Mr. Curtis had been a construction supervisor with Indiana Bell for 36 years, retiring in 1977. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1592; the Eastern Star, American Legion, and the First Christian Church of Greencastle.

Survivors include his sons, William J. Curtis and wife, Rachel of Greencastle and Frank A. Curtis and wife, Paula of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Gene Curtis; sisters-in-law, Joan Faulkner of Plainfield and Becky Curtis of Trail, Ore.; five grandchildren, Shelley Gentry and husband, Loren, Kristin Davenport and husband, Kevin, Mary Ann Kershaw and husband, Jim, Adam Roberts, and Amanda Roberts; five great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Wyatt, and Jacob Gentry, Kenneth Davenport and Kaitlynn Kershaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Michael Ray Curtis; brother, Jerry Curtis; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Paul Ray Curtis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Champion officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, with a Masonic Lodge Service to be held at 7 p.m.
