Harvey W. "Junior" Smith, 76, of Poland died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He was born July 21, 1933 at Bowling Green, Ky. and was the son of the late Harvey D. and Mary (White) Smith.

He married Anna Jane Sanders on Feb. 14, 1982, and she survives.

He was the former owner and operator of the Cloverdale Shell and was employed at Heartland Automotive in Greencastle.

He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Hurst-Collins Post No. 281, Cloverdale and the Jesse Lee Post No. 1550, V.F.W., Greencastle.

He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy during Korea.

In addition to his wife, Anna Jane Smith, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Benson of Tucson, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Suzette Wymer (Steve Jett) of Carmel; a sister, Elizabeth Craighead and husband Clyde of Plainfield; and grandchildren Shanna McClure and Lakin Benson, both of Tucson and Ellie McClain and Calvin Jett, both of Carmel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carson Smith.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with the Rev. Al Brown officiating.

Calling will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
