GREENCASTLE -- A missing Greencastle teen was found Friday evening at the McDonald's Restaurant on 3rd Street in Terre Haute.

"He is safe and fine," said Greencastle Police Department Chief Tom Sutherlin.

Eighteen-year-old Gerrick Steen had been missing since 7 p.m. Tuesday and was last seen walking along Manhattan Road approximately half a mile north of the Antioch Baptist Church.

On Wednesday, GPD received two solid tips in the case. A woman called the department and said she picked up Steen, who was hitchhiking on the west end of Brazil, and dropped him off in Terre Haute.

A second caller, a male, told GPD officers he had seen Steen Tuesday on 6th Street in Terre Haute, near where he was later found. The man said he did not realize Steen had been reported missing and had spoken with the teen.

Steen normally walks around town, goes to the library and usually carries a backpack. When he left home Tuesday, he left behind his backpack, coat, medication and money.

"A family member is picking him up," said Sutherlin.
