The Greencastle girls' track team stayed perfect on the season after defeating Monrovia and Owen Valley Thursday. GHS scored 97, while the Bulldogs scored 45 and Owen Valley 22.

Picking up wins for the Tiger Cubs were Carissa Johnson in the 100 (13.7), Faith Fear in the 1,600 (6:11), Erika Davies in the 400 (1:06) and the 200 (27.9), Abby Coffin in the high jump (4-7), Colleen Weatherford in the 800 (2:32), and Laura English in the long jump (14-3.5).

"Tonight was a much better performance for our team than the one on Tuesday against North Montgomery," GHS head coach Garry Anderson said. "There were several personal records--all the shot putters were the leaders amongst those. The leading the shot putters were junior Braden Amis with a personal record throw of 33-10.5, Stephanie Penturff -- 32-3.5, Christy Shrader 31-9.5, Abby Patterson 22-4.5 and Kaitlyn Straw 22-0.

"The sprint group had many personal best among their group also," he added.

Anderson continued to sign the praises of the performances his team gave on Thursday evening.

"Paige Pickens had a real good night with her high jumping, 100 dash, and running a great leg on our No. 2 4 x 100 relay," Anderson said. "The 800M crew did a fine job by placing in 3 out 4 positions - Colleen Weatherford won the event with a new personal best time of 2:32.0. Erika Davies seems to be getting back in the groove from where she left off last season by winning the 200, 400, and running on the winning 1600 relay. We had a good night in capturing all three relay events."
