NPHS track gets win over Rockville

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam girls' track team defeated Rockville Monday 68-55.

The Cougars scored first place finishes in six events on the night en route to their win.

Jasmine Mimms won the long jump with a distance of 15-5.75 and the 200 in a time of 29.88, while Morgan Christy won the 100 in a time of 13.63. Laura McGaughey won the 400 in 1:06.42, with Hilary Salyers, Whitney High, Danielle Harbison and Katie Douglas teaming up to win the 3,200 relay in a time of 14:36.

Distance runner Paxton Stephenson ran away from the competition, winning the 1,600 by more than 39 seconds over second place. She also was a big winner in the 3,200 with a time of 12:46, finishing than two minutes and four seconds ahead of second place.
