David Geary, 80, of Poland, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at his residence Thursday, April 29, 2010, following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 23, 1930 in Cleveland to Mervin Geary and Florence Schafer Geary.

David graduated from West Middleton High School in 1948. He worked at Schiff Shoes and was the manager for several years. Most recently, he owned and operated 'Geary's Surplus' in Kokomo and Brazil. He married Amaryllis "Amy" Kinney on March 12, 1950.

He was a member of West Middleton United Methodist Church and recently attended Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church near Reelsville.

On the weekends, he enjoyed attending gun shows and dabbling with antique vehicles.

Survivors include his wife Amy Geary of Poland; two daughters, Deborah Herr and husband Greg of Cincinnati and Pam Green and Lanny Woodward of Kokomo; two sons, David Geary and wife Deborah of Logansport and Tracey Geary of Poland; grandchildren Joshua, Joe, Jon, Aaron, Chris, Rachel and Amanda; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at French Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Goss officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. At his request, cremation will take place.
