Eagles earn 17th win of the season

The South Putnam softball team continues to roll in its 2010 campaign after picking up its 17th win of the season by defeating West Vigo 10-4 Thursday.

Brooke Boetjer pitched five innings of no-hit softball, with one unearned run and four strikeouts. Boetjer has pitched 13 straight no-hit innings. She also had a double, a run scored and five RBIs at the plate.

Mattie Varvel pitched the final two innings and added a run for the Eagles offense. Krystal Welch was 2-for-4 and scored twice, while Emily Dabkowski was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Kelsey Whitaker was 2-for-4 with a double.

The Eagles will host Greencastle Monday at 5 p.m.
