Cougars win pair over Turkey Run

The North Putnam softball squad won a pair of contests against Turkey Run Saturday. In the first game, the Cougars won 4-3 and in game two they won 11-1.

It took a late inning rally for the Cougars to come away victorious in the first game. Kensey Asbell recorded her first home run of the season to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and then Katie Welch knocked in the game winning run to earn the win.

Taylor Judy was the winning pitcher, pitching a complete game, with eight strikeouts, five hits and 1 walk. She also had two RBIs.

Asbell was 2-for-3 with a home run and Megan Gray added a double. Dakota Malayer had two hits, while Elsiana Crosby and Welch had singles.

In game two, Welch took on pitching duties and went five innings with five strikeouts, four hits and no walks. She was also 2-for-2 at the plate.

Gray's fourth-inning home run gave the Cougar their 10-point advantage. She had three RBIs on the day. Malayer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Judy was 2-for-3.
