Golf Ball Drop

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Five hundred twenty-six golf balls rained down on a brand new green at Old Hickory Golf Course Friday. Following the 20th Annual Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble, Chamber board member Beau Battin got into a bucket truck and rode all the way up to 60 feet. From that height, Battin dropped 526 golf balls from a pair of 5-gallon buckets onto the green. The first ball in the hole or the closest was declared the winner. Ultimately, the winning ball belonged to Daryl Taylor who was presented his winner's share by Chamber Executive Director Tammy Amor. Scramble winners will be honored in an upcoming edition of the Banner Graphic.

  • Nice idea. I hope he fixed all 526 ball marks!

  • Thanks to the Chamber and Old Hickory Golf Course for a great day. The golf course has never looked better and being a part of this annual event is great! I hope that everyone will support the Chamber as well as Old Hickory Golf Course. They are both first class.
