North Putnam splits with Mustangs

VEEDERSBURG -- The North Putnam split a double header with Class 2A second-ranked Fountain Central Saturday. The Cougars dropped the first game 9-3, but came back to win the second contest 7-5.

In the first contest, Shawn Diebold, Brody Perrine, Tyler Watson and Mychael Buchanan all had hits. Watson hit was a home run.

Freshman starter Kyler Badten tossed a no-hitter through the six innings in game two.

Diebold and Badten was 2-for-4, while Austin Day was 2-for-3. Jake Haste, Watson, Buchanan and Brock Jones all had base hits. Watson hit a double in the contest.

The win snapped Fountain Central's 19-game winning streak.
