Harry E. "Gene" Nelson, 72, of Reelsville, formerly of Terre Haute, died July 17, 2010 at Union Hospital.

He was born the son of Kermit Nelson and Hazel Logsdon Nelson in Clark County.

He graduated from Hymera High School in 1957. On Nov. 21, 1974 he married Mary Ann Monninger Nelson, and they have shared every day together. In his career he worked at Sony in Terre Haute and later sold heavy equipment for KMI. He enjoyed working in the sales force and quickly made customers his friends. In 1992 he began the business venture of A & C Products, Inc. in Reelsville. He and his wife worked side by side in this sand and gravel company, and he enjoyed life to its fullest.

Gene was a member of the East Glenn Assembly of God Church and later attended Victory Christian Center. His priorities have been his faith, family, friends and a true work ethic.

He is survived by his wife of Reelsville; three daughters, Lori (Steve) Lendman of Noblesville, Kimberly Capps of Bloomington and Ashley (Justin) Campbell of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Cody Lindman, Jessica Lindman, Daniel "DJ" Newton, Mary Newton, Tristan Capps, Landon Campbell and Maddigan Campbell; two sisters Norma Sauder of Clarksville; Judy Kent of Bedford; one brother Jerry (Mary) Nelson of Munith, Mich.; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Kermit Nelson, his mother Hazel Nelson Burke and sister Phyllis Nelson.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at French Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Simmons officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
