James W. Braden, 72, of Greencastle passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1937 in Putnam County to Edgar Braden and Agnes Torr Braden.

He was a 1956 graduate of Greencastle High School. He was a lifelong farmer and had retired from IBM and FB Distro in Greencastle. He was a long-time member of the Greencastle Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne "Von" Braden; children, Kim Braden and Cort (Sue) Braden, all of Newburgh, and Tonya Cameron (Greg) of Queen Creek, Ariz.; sister Norma Cook of Greencastle; two brothers, George Braden of Speedway and John Braden of Greencastle; five grandchildren, Alex Braden, Luke Braden, Kaden Cameron, Kyan Cameron and Dallen Cameron; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Sears, and a brother, Howard Braden.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Remley officiating. Burial will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home. An Elks walk through will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the caring staff at Putnam County Hospital and Hendricks Regional Hospital for the care that Jim received.

Memorials in Jim's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
