GREENCASTLE -- Putnam County Hospital will have two new physicians beginning practice on Aug. 16. Elizabeth Brater, M.D. and Kristine Knapp, M.D. recently signed contracts with the hospital.

Dr. Brater specializes in family medicine and will be joining the North Putnam Family Healthcare office in Bainbridge. Windy Watt, a family nurse practitioner, is currently seeing patients and welcomes the addition of Dr. Brater to the office.

"A full time physician and nurse practitioner is a great asset for this community," stated Watt.

Dr. Brater is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She completed her medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Both Dr. Brater and Nurse Practitioner Watt are accepting new patients. Appointments can be made by contacting the office at 522-2556 Monday through Friday.

Dr. Knapp will join Dr. Jamie Cooper with Putnam Women's Healthcare. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

"Putnam County is very fortunate to have two female gynecologists here at the hospital," Cooper said. "We can provide the women of the area with great care locally."

Dr. Knapp attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis for her medical degree and is certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Putnam Women's Healthcare is open Monday through Friday and appointments can be made by calling the office at 655-2686.

Dr. Charlie Ho will be retiring from his 19 years of service with Putnam County Hospital at the end of October. A retirement celebration will be held on Oct. 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. All of Dr. Ho's patients are invited to attend.

  • Thank goodness for Dr. Brater!! I drove 45 miles to see her in Alexandria and now I will drive 40 miles to Greencastle. My daughter and I have never found anyone better than her. She listens, she does't rush you out the door and she treats your problems. I highly recommend Dr.Brater.
