GPS challenge planned at McCloud Nature Center trails

NORTH SALEM -- The McCloud GPS Challenge will be held the morning of Aug. 28 beginning at McCloud's Nature Center.

Participants may use their own GPS or borrow one of McCloud's to find pre-determined checkpoints along McCloud Nature Park's trails. This adventure race is designed for adults aged 18 and over, although those under 18 may attend with an adult.

Participants can earn bonus points by testing their nature knowledge, and prizes will be awarded for race time and points.

Compete singly or as a team; registration is appreciated by calling 676-5437. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the challenge starts at 10 a.m.

Park admission and all activities are free and open to the community. McCloud Nature Park is operated by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation and located five minutes south of North Salem at 8518 North Hughes Road. The park is open from dawn to dusk daily and the Nature Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
