North Putnam falls to Turkey Run

MARSHALL -- The North Putnam volleyball team fell to Turkey Run Thursday in four games. The Cougars lost 25-14, 16-25, 25-18 and 27-25.

"We played and looked good at times, other times we couldn't seem to pull it together and get the points that we needed," North Putnam head coach Jill Schreiber said. "Miscommunication errors as well as basic fundamental errors hurt us a lot tonight."

Another element of the game Schreiber said plagues her team is the fact they don't play up to their opponents. For her Cougars, it all boils down to believing in themselves.

" It seems we play one level below our competition," she said. "We have talked about this, and need to learn to hold our heads high and believe in ourselves. We have no confidence as a team, we do not expect to win. This team is young, but has the talent to be great.

"We have yet to figure out, as a team, we have the ability to win," Schreiber continued. "We have to learn to use our strengths, cover our weaknesses and expect win. We can be successful, we just have to prove to ourselves we can. And until that happens, I'm not sure if we will win a game. It's all about our confidence as a team and not accepting failure."

The junior varsity also lost to Turkey Run, falling 25-24 and 24-4.
