TERRE HAUTE -- The Greencastle Middle School cross country team competed at the Terre Haute State Preview meet in Terre Haute. The girls placed fifth out of eight teams, while the boys were fourth out of 10 teams.

For the girls, Libby Brush finished 11th with a time of 12:38, with Hannah Brattain running a time of 12:45.

Other members of the team coming in under the state standard of 14:30 were Corrie Rommer (14:04), Sammy Haynes (14:06), Lily Spencer (14:09) and Katie Haynes (14:23). Whitney Weinschenk narrowly missed the state standard by nine seconds with a time of 14:39.

Ichrio Mozawa ran a 13:41 and Clayton Wilson in 13:56 for the Tiger Cubs.

"Overall I couldn't be happier with the effort and results our kids are giving," GMS head coach Art Dwigans said. "The kids seemed a little disappointed with our team placing on Saturday, but I explained to them that a program our size, 22 kids, competing against programs with 50 to 70 runners, it's going to be really tough to win overall.

"But I am confident as the season progresses and we continue to match up against schools our size and bigger, our overall success will get better and better," Dwigans said.
