Robert Stewart Snell, 47, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010.

Born in Chicago, he was a son of the late Thaddeus S. Snell and Mary Ward DiDomenico.

Robert was a son, a brother, an uncle, a chef, a paramedic and a proud Army veteran. His passions for the outdoors, wildlife and hunting ran deep, but not like his enthusiasm for a good sporting event, a good meal and good times with family and friends.

He had many specialties including a certification as a paramedic from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He also received an AA and a BA from the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America in New York. It was at CIA where he developed his expertise as a meat specialist. Customers at Beaumont Kroger in Lexington, Ky. could not have been happier that Robert's knowledge of the best cuts of beef was always available to them, with a smile.

He is survived by an extensive family which includes (in part), his brother and sisters, Bill (Leslie) Snell of Cary, N.C., Kathleen S. (Dr. James) Jagger of Lexington, Ky., Pamela (Richard) Tuszynski of Burbank, Calif. and Debra Snell of Los Angeles and nephews and nieces, Matthew (Sarah) Jagger, Mark (Rebecca) Jagger, Heidi (Chris) Avalos, Josh Tuszynski, Adam Tuszynski, David (Mary) Tuszynski, Richard (Kerry) Tuszynski Jr, Jennifer Snell and Nicholas Snell. He is also survived by his stepfather Mike DiDomenico and stepmother Eleanor Snell.

A memorial mass will be at 7 p.m. today at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Newman Center) in Lexington. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (stopsarcoidosis.org).
